Oakville PFFA fundraising in high gear!, 9/21/2008

Over the past three weeks, the Oakville Professional Fire Fighters Association has been busy participating in various fundraising events. They have received some great publicity in the local papers as a result, appearing on the cover each week, and have further enhanced their profile within the community.

On August 23rd, Oakville Fire Fighters gathered at Dorval Crossing Mall to show their support for Muscular Dystrophy Canada by holding a Family Fun Day and Boot Drive. Parents threw donations in the large rubber fire boots while their children literally bounced off the walls in the inflatable play areas. The event was a huge success, raising over $5200.00 in only three hours.

The other notable event was held at the Oakville Drive-In Theatre. Local 1582 members participated at the "Chick Flick" night at the drive-in by cleaning car windows for the ladies in attendance prior to the start of the movies. Funds raised were donated to Haltons Women's Shelter, as they are working towards purchasing a new shelter for abused women.
