Guelph PFFA assists the Ray Scapinello Road Hockey Tournament, 5/24/2010

Each year, retired NHL linesman, Ray Scapinello, hosts a road hockey tournament aimed at kids ages eight to fourteen. This year's event saw 600 enthusiastic participants taking part and Ray brought with him, a very special companion - the Stanley Cup!
The 33 year NHL veteran continues to give back to his community by donating the funds raised from the Ray Scapinello Road Hockey Tournament to the youth of Guelph. These donations come in the form of seven $1,000 bursaries for graduating students of local high schools who are pursuing post-secondary education. The Ray Scapinello Foundation also provides grants to local charitable organizations that deliver children and youth initiatives, in particular, those dealing with at-risk youth.
This year, for the first time, the Guelph Professional Fire Fighters came on board to assist with the tournament. Guelph Fire Fighters were on-hand to help out with the general running of the tournament. Fire Prevention Officers also set up the Fire Safety House to provide education to the participants, and pumpers were on scene to give people a close up look at our fire fighting equipment.
This year was another great success and a great time was had by all.
