Attention All OPFFA Locals – Intrepid Magazine Please post or distribute to all members. Everyone should have recently received the latest copy of our Intrepid magazine. We utilize the company CBU (Canadian Badge and Uniform) which relies on telemarketing to produce our Intrepid magazine. Revenue garnered from CBU's telemarketing on our behalf pays for the magazine's production, distribution, and editing thus providing us the ability to have this professional and effective communication tool without the need for per-capita. We recently met with CBU representatives to discuss the future of the company and thus our magazine. Admittedly CBU and telemarketing in general has taken a significant hit during this economic downturn. The Executive Board reviewed a proposal provided to us from CBU and have authorized me to enter into a revised contract with CBU to preserve and hopefully enhance our revenue to allow us to maintain this magazine with a goal of not requiring per capita support. Beginning with our next edition we will be moving to hard mailing only to our fire halls and other work locations, the MPP's offices and a few other identified organizations. The magazine will also be offered in a digital format through our website. We are currently working with CBU to provide you with the opportunity to enrol your email address so you can receive the magazine directly to your email. As much as we would have liked to continue with the delivery of the Intrepid to our members' home, the economic reality no longer allowed for that business to continue under the status quo. Similar considerations are being contemplated by the various Police Associations who also work with CBU. It is our hope that this hybrid between hard mailing to your work location and digital publishing will allow CBU to emerge stronger and even create new communication opportunities for the OPFFA in the future.
