Attention All OPFFA Locals:

I along with Executive V/P McKinnon attended last Thursday’s Budget Speech at Queen’s Park. I have reviewed the speech along with the various media stories the following day, where the Premier and Finance Minister encourage the municipalities to follow their lead with respect to compensation freezes for public sector workers.

Please see the notice below and post in all work locations or distribute via email or whatever mechanism you employ locally so that all members can view this notice.

We are attempting to schedule meetings this week to discuss what is behind these statements. I can assure all Locals that the OPFFA will vigorously oppose any attempts that negatively affect local negotiations or the arbitration process.

We will keep you apprised of any developments.
